Top cyclist dies
NZPA-Reuter Brussels The Belgian cycling champion, Marc de Meyer, has died of a heart attack at his home at Merelbeke near Ghent aged 31. his sponsors have announced.
De Meyer began his cycling career in 1966. His main successes were as winner of the Paris-Brussels race and the Grand Prix de I’Escaut in 1974 and the Paris-Roubaix event in 1976.
