Busier N.Z. market
Trading picked up on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday, in response to the first-come, first-served offer for one million Marac shares by a mystery bidder. This was the first concrete news the market has had since the start'of 1982 trading. The offer of 220 c an ordinary Marac share was eclipsed by the largest parcel selling for 240 c. and the rights offer of 115 c was also exceeded in trading at 135 c. Leading issues u*ere firmer, and rises outnumbered falls more than two to one. Lane Walker Rudkin rose 2c, Mount Cook Group sc, and Bunting sc. Among the falls were Andrews and Beaven, New Zealand Refining, and New Zealand South British.
