Biscuits’ cost goes up
i The grocery trade is back p business with its first irice rises of 1982.

j All packets of Griffins biscuits will cost 3c more. Aulfebrooks and Hudsons biscuits are expected to follow with similar increases in the next fortnight.
j Levers, of Petone, has increased some of its prices for the third time in three months. Sunsilk shampoos and hair sprays went up by about 5 per cent. Toilet soaps, including Knight's Castile, will cost an extra dent, and soap powders rose by 1c to 2c. 3 Packets of Surprise dried (Vegetables also rose by 1c to
2c. The increase is the second since mid-December.
Shoppers with a sweet tooth will also pay more for Cadbury's chocolate. The price for a king-size bar has risen 20c to $2.30.
Egg prices rose 3c a dozen on Saturday, although many supermarkets still sell eggs at the old price.
This month's shopping basket has gone up by $4.60 to $154.84. Much of the increase results from minor price rises which came through last month before manufacturers closed for Christmas-New Year. Meat prices surveyed have returned to their November level after some retailers dropped prices during the holidays to attract customers otherwise discouraged from cooking hot meals in the summer heat. ;.
