Rape alleged in St Albans
Christchurch detectives are investigating the alleged bashing and rape of a woman, aged 39, in Abberley Park, St Albans, late on
Monday evening. Inquiries are being concentrated on the movements of a green car with a white top, possibly a 1967 Holden, which the woman has alleged she was forced into and driven to
the park. At the park she was held down by two men and raped by a third, said Detective Stuart Dunn, of the Christchurch C. 1.8., yesterday.
The woman, accompanied by her dog, had gone to post a letter in ,the box at the corner of Holly Road and Bristol Street just after 10 p.m. on Monday, he said. A man in the car called out to her and she had crossed the road to talk to him because she thought he needed directions. She was then grabbed, pulled into the car. and
driven to the park where the alleged rape occurred. During a struggle in the car the woman’s face was bruised and mouth cut by
two blows, said Detective Dunn. The woman could not remember how she had made her way back to her flat. She said the car had sheepskin covers on the seats and
two large cloth dice hanging from the rear-vision mirror. The car’s driver was a Polynesian in his late 20s, about 170 cm (sft 6in) tall, fat, with curly shoulder-length hair and a thick moustache.
The second man was European, aged about 25, about 180 cm ((sft Ilin) tall, with straight dark hair and a droopy moustache. The third man was a thin European, clean-shaven, with fair hair. The Christchurch C. 1.8. would like to hear from anyone who saw the woman being pulled into the car, or who could identify the men or the car.
