Indian women win
PA Wanganui India won its first game in the World Cup women's cricket in Wanganui yesterday. The Indian XI fully deserved its 47-run victory against England in the Hansells Vita Freshsponsored series, displaying sound batting, reliable fielding and accurate bowling in its 60 overs.
For the English side it was a blow after comfortably beating India in the first round at Auckland earlier this month. India 178 '7 (F. Khaleeki 88. R. Dholakia 35: E. Bakwell 3 13. J. Court 2'18) beat England 131 (J. Brittin 38. R Heyhoe-Flint 30; S. Kulkarni 3/19. D. Edulji 2/16. S. Chakraborthy 2'23).
