NZPA Sydney A New Zealand man has appeared in court charged with the malicious wounding and attempted robbery of the former rugby league international. Clive Churchill. Peter Brian Stevens, aged 25. unemployed, of no fixed abode, appeared in Redfern Court charged with an attack on Mr Churchill at his Randwick liquor store on January 11. He was also charged with

maliciously wounding Mr Churchill with a knife. Stevens faced further charges of assault and wounding arising from a robbery at a news agency at Codgee on January 12 in which a woman, aged 62. was robbed of $366. Sergeant Ray Hood said that Stevens had cut Mr

Churchill on the arm while a second man bashed him with a shotgun. The police are still looking for Hie second man. Stevens was "remanded in custody to January 20.
