Ex-hostesses win
An American Federal judge has ordered United Airlines to make plans to reinstate about 1400 flight attendants who were fired in 1968 because they were married. The flight attendants will be placed on a preferential hiring list that now includes others laid off because of cutbacks, according to the attorney for the attendants. The order stems from a suit filed in 1970 to protest against an airline rule that flight attendants could not be married. The rule was discarded that year after it was ruled a violation of Federal civil rights laws.—Chicago.
