Second XI badly placed
PA Auckland The Auckland second cricket XI goes into the last day of play in the national final' against Canterbury with one wicket in hand and a 269-run lead. Replying to 235 for nine by Auckland. Canterbury were yesterday out for' 148. The Canterbury innings opened brightly with the hard-hitting left-hander. Ray Jones (65), putting on 67 for’ the first wicket with Justin Boyle.
However, from there on the Canterbury batting crumbled under accurate Auckland attack
spearheaded by Tom Hellaby who finished the innings with five for 29 off 16 overs. At stumps Auckland were nine for 182 in the second innings.
