Setback for rowers
PA Auckland Max Dedekind. of Christchurch, and his brother, Steven Harre, of Auckland, are praying for a “merciful sun" today. The pair, who have been on their voyage to row round New Zealand since December 22, rowed solidly from 6 a m. vesterday to make up distance lost when their boat was forced backwards by strong currents on Wednesday night. “We have gained about half the distance we lost."
Mr Dedekind said by radiotelephone. The pair dropped anchor about 9 p.m. yesterday about 35 miles north of Cape Brett. They hope to cover 10 or 15 miles today.
