Softball’s new format

Senior softball will begin after the Christmas-New Year holiday break tomorrow with both a new competition and a new format. An elite of four teams — Burnside. United. Papanui. and Lyttelton — remain in the top men’s grade while a new senior reserve grade has been formed with eight teams, made up of the bottom four from senior A and the top four from senior B. The top senior women's grade has been extended to 10 teams with Woolston. Kaiapoi. Albion B. and Burnside B joining the previous group of six. Seven games, including double-headers, will be necessary tomorrow.
