Pregnant teenagers
Sir,—Replying to Keith Brown’s letter (December 17), may I, as a single woman, say I have had a “gutsful” of narrow-minded people who lay all the blame on the females of these situations and none on the males. Mr Brown, and people like him, should wake up and realise that it takes two to tango! If the “fathers” of these children faced their responsibilities like men instead of mice and paid maintenance for “their” child, the tmfortunate woman would not have to rely on the State for “handouts.” After all the situation came about by them proving their manhood, so why don’t some of them start acting like gentlemen and try to rectify the situation by paying forwhat they have done. — Yours, etc.,
S. J. Burrows. Culverden. December 18, 1981
