Dairy deal with Soviet Union
Sir,—lt seems that the word “freedom”, is missing from M. T. Moore’s vocabulary. I have strongly advocated “the freedom to trade with whoever we like,” whch is not the assertion Mr Moore makes (December 12). Mr Moore needs to understand that it really is a question of morals and ethics. We should be free individually to decide who we will trade or associate with. It should not be up to Government or union bosses to dictate that to us. I have regularly, condemned the compulsory union laws that force honest workers to support union bosses, and that allow our business community to be blackmailed. And the fact that the Government is making big trade decisions, not individual companies or freely associating farmers and businessmen is another cause for alarm. It is not the Government’s function to control our trade and economy, which is why we are having so many troubles with them. — Yours, etc.,
SCOTT ARMSTRONG. December 14, 1981.
