Fire damage $20,000

NZPA Canberra Fire overnight caused an estimated $20,000 damage at the Canberra residence of the New Zealand High Commissioner, Mr L. J. Francis. A fire brigade spokesman said the blaze broke out soon after 1.30 a.m. in the bedroom of the residence in Mugga Way. Two fire units

took about half an hour to extinguish the blaze which caused extensive damage to the bedroom. Mr Francis suffered slight burns to the hands while trying to put out the outbreak. The cause of the fire was not known, but fire authorities said there were no suspicious circumstances.
