Govt accepts tender for big rail ferry

PA Wellington The Government has accepted the tender of a Danish company, Aalborg Vaefrt, to build" a new Cook Strait rail ferry. Announcing this, the Minister of Railways (Mr Gair) said the ferry, to replace the Aramoana, would be built at a present day cost of about $45 million and was expected to enter service at the end of 1983.
