General forecast: The weather should be fine in the north and east of the North Island, apart form isolated showers, but occasional rain •is expected from Taranaki to ' Wellington. A cold front moving north-east over the South Island should bring showers and isolated thunderstorms to many districts District forecasts: Canterbury: Moderate northeasterly winds predominating about the coast, north-westerlies fresh at times inland, the winds tending to the south-west for a time; fine, Marlborough: North-westerly

winds, fresh and gusty in exposed places; drizzle about the Sounds but fine elsewhere, apart from a few showers in the ranges this afternoon; warm. Nelson: Moderate to fresh northerly winds; occasional rain in the west and scattered showers Buller: Moderate northerly winds; rain. Westland: South-westerly winds spreading slowly north; rain easing to showers; cooler. Outlook:Showers in the west of the North Island and in the south-west of the South. Island; mainly fine elsewhere.
