Writer dies
Claud Cockburn, the writer, has died in hospital in Ireland. He was 77. Cockburn, who lived in Ardmore, County Waterford, was a Marxist writer who had a long journalistic career. He was an American correspondent for “The Times” in the 1930 s and was foreign correspondent of the “Daily Worker” between 1935 and 1946. He wrote regularly for the “New Statesman,” “Punch,” ’ and the satirical magazine, “Private Eye.” — Dublin.
