Glut of used paper
Because of a temporary glut in the used-paper market, Christchurch's resource recovery centre has 15 tonnes of paper which it cannot move. The paper is stored in the main building at the refuse centre. “We will not turn people away. We will find a place to store it," said project engineer, Mr A. C. Vogan. The stockpile has occurred because the Canterbury Paper Company, Ltd, is no’t accepting any more paper from the centre and will not until N.Z. Forest Products begins buying from the company again. Forest Products is temporarily over-supplied. “this stop-go arrangement will probably go on for another year,” Mr Vogan said.
