General Election
Sir,—ln a television interview early this week Mr Muldoon expressed his pleasure that the electorate had been “sophisticated” enough to reelect the Government. Well it seems to me that it would have been far more pleasing to have seen an electorate which was mature enough to have elected a Labour government which would at least have endeavoured to care for the pressing needs of mankind both in our own country and abroad; many of these needs are listed by D. J. O’Rourke in a letter to ‘‘The Press” (December 4). Sophistication is one thing; maturity is a totally different thing.—Yours, etc., Mrs MARGARET RICKETTS. December 4, 1981.
