Nures Society concerned
The Nurses Society of New Zealand is concerned that Maoris and Polynesian New Zealanders are under-repre-sented in the nursing profession. The society has just completed a review which shows that less than 2 per cent of nurses are Maoris. The national director of the society. Mr David Wills, attributed’ the low percentage to the rise in entry standards and increasing economic obstacles to study including "grossly inadequate" bursaries and high studv costs.
