Dundas in line for win today

By

G. K. YULE

Dundas looks favourably placed to cap off some consistent racing with a win in the M. J. Robertson Plumbers Pace at the New Brighton club's meeting at Addington Raceway this evening. Dundas has drawn favourably at No. 1 at the barrier at the awkward mobile mile starting point. Two starts back he was runner-up to Quiet Win in a similar race on the course on November 17, two more tightly-assessed horses in Right Bower and

False Regal filling the other placings. Dundas was runner-up again on the final night of the Cup meeting, being beaten by Sweet Jessica at the end of a slowly-run 2600 m. The pace will be more testing this evening and even though he is best known as a stayer, Dundas should be capable of a merry mile. Eden's Joy has been racing consistently well in the past month. She has drawn reasonably and should be capable of maintaining a handy position throughout.

The Sting is another racing well enough to be a leading contender in spite of a rather wide draw. He is in great heart at present and is overdue for a win. Tarlad, a big disappointment last time out, ran up three wins and a second before that. He, too. should be capable of a smart mile. Heather Chief and perhaps Remote could do best of the others in what is the first leg of the first on-course treble. Jenover and Royal Stroll will be in demand in the other two legs, the Aldurwood Joinery Handicap and the Walker Ladders Pace.
