Activities of S.P.U.C.
Sir,—Sandra Legge’s comments (December 2) are in-
accurate and beside the point. Neither the integrity nor the intelligence of all the signatories to the repeal petition have been scorned in this correspondence. It is the integrity of the pro-abortion philosophy that is in question. Abortion is a prime example of a disintegrated social response. Symbolically and in fact abortion is an act of planned disintegration — for the unborn, for the parents, and for the community. In plain words, abortion involves killing, and this central issue of the debate has been obscured and misrepresented by the abortion movement. Sincere people have thereby been misled into supporting a campaign they would not otherwise have endorsed. It is as Edward Gibbon said of Rome “. . . the Senate and the people would submit to slavery provided they were respectfully assured that they still enjoyed their ancient freedom.”—Yours, etc., P. S. BROOKE. December 2, 1981.
