Man caught after fleeing bank
PA Dunedin A man who tried to cash a stolen cheque in Dunedin on Monday afternoon was chased by two bank officers and caught by one of them after he fled into Woolworths, Ltd, in "downtown Dunedin. Mr 'Christopher Woods, aged 21, who caught him, said the man had tried to cash a cheque which he recognised as being stolen. The cheque was one which the tellers had been warned about. ' ... ' Mr Woods telephoned the main branch of the bank, which told. him to hold the man. “As I got off the telephone he ran off,” he said. Both Mr Woods and the accountant of the National Bank branch chased the man out of-the bank. In the store, a bystander helped hold the man until the police arrived.
