Two clubs in tight battle

; With four rounds gone and three to play Linwood and South Brighton are locked in a tight battle for the division one threefours bowls title. , South Brighton II earned the maximum eight points on Saturday, one more than Linwood I could manage. r . This leaves these two teams joint leaders with 29 points. However, Linwood has a second string to its bow in the shape of jits No. 3 team which, with an eight-point win against Redcliffs 4 on Saturday, is handily placed with 28 points. s There is a gap then back to Spreydon I, Papanui I and ShirMey I all with 22 points. They, in turn, are clear of Wooiston »W.M.C. I, on 18. ; Fendalton II gained seven points on Saturday to cling to its ’ division two lead. Its total is 30 ; with Christchurch, 29, and • Canterbury I, 26, the only threats at this stage. Rangiora 111, with 26 points, holds a two-point lead over Spreydon II on the division three ladder. Four teams, Dallington ’ 11. St Albans 11, St Albans 111 and St Martins 11, are all two points < further afield. 5 Elmwood 111 leads division , four with 29 points.
