‘Fendalton needs incentive’

The most important need in the Fendalton electorate was incentive, said Social Credit's candidate for Fendalton. Mrs Louise Moore. Skilled New Zealanders were leaving the country because there was no incentive for them .to stay, Mrs Moore told an election meeting of 14. ■ “The whole key to incentive, lies in ownership of our own credit,’’ she said. ‘ Social Credit would have bnlv one bank, the Reserve Bank, which would have the power, to create, issue, and cancel peoples money. That ‘would give the Government control of the money supply, she said.

“By gaining control for New Zealand of our money supply, we will remove an enormous cost to our economy in rampant inflation." Social Credit would also give people the equivalent of their “product” in purchasing power, Mrs Moore said. “By balancing people’s imcomes with the goods and services produced, we will bring about stability of the dollar and stability in costs.” Mrs Moore said these reforms would enanle progress in the fields ot education, health, employment, housing, and arts funding. • Think big” was crippling the country, she said. Social Credit would stop the

smelter and synthetic petrol projects. The money would be redirected to production, and Canterbury businesses would be profitable again. Tax rehef would be given to Canterbury businesses as an incentive for them to employ more staff.

Mrs Moore said there would be no unemployment under Social Credit.

“Every producer will be desperately neeced in the growth industries expanding in response to the implementation of Social Credit's economic policies.” she said. Today's high unemploy.mem was caused bv the

Government's "cold, calculated” policy of reducing economic activity by 16 per cent - ~ j Social Credit would reduce rates by funding local bodies at administrative charge only, tree of interest, she said. Unless Social Credit became the government, there would be no major reform in New Zealand. "The last 10 years has been an utter waste of golden and exciting opportunities." she said.

"The initiative and enterprise of the Kiwi bloke and his family has been slammed and Miuee.ed.'
