Record price for greasy wool

PA Dunedin The New Zealand record price for greasy wool was broken twice at the Dunedin sale yesterday finishing at 611 c a kilogram for eight bales of extra-fine Merino fleece from Little Valley station, near Alexandra. An earlier sale from Little Valley made 606 c, for four bales of extra-fine Merino fleece. Wool from Matangi station equalled the previous record of 596 c a kilogram set at the last Christchurch sale. This was for. 11 bales of super-fine Merino hogget; Compared with the Christchurch fine-wool sale on October 30, the fine and extra-fine Merino fleece was barely steady, and medium and strong Merino in buyers’ favour. The adjusted weighted average sale price was 261.47 c a kilogram. Based on this, a Government supplementary payment of 22.40 per cent will apply to all wool sold at the sale and all wool sold privately from midnight on November 18 to midnight on November 19.
