Banks Peninsula retains date
The Banks Peninsula Trotting Club will be able to hold its country-and-western meeting on Monday, December 28, as planned. The combined committee of the Racing and Trotting Conferences and the Greyhound Racing Association, at a meeting in Christchurch last week, allowed an objection from the Timaru Racing Club against the Banks Peninsula date and decreed that the trotting club should race on December 29. A meeting of the emergency committee of the Trotting Conference yesterday decided unanimously not to ratify the decision of the combined committee. “This means that Banks Peninsula can race on December 28 as was origin-
ally approved,” said the chief executive officer of the Trotting Conference (Mr John Rowley). “Any decisions of the combined committee have to be ratified by the conferences in the normal course oi events. The decision of the emergency committee means that there will be no change to the date of the Banks Peninsula meeting,” he added.
