General forecast: Cool south-westerlies will bring showers to many parts of New Zealand but it should become fine in Nelson, Buller, and Westland and also in Otago and inland Southland. District forecasts: Canterbury: Fresh, cool south-westerlies about the coast, and lighter winds inland; periods of light rain, easing to coastal showers, with increasing fine intervals inland. Nelson, Buller: Winds tending to cool southerlies; cloud breaking this morning to
be mainly fine this afternoon. Marlborough: Fresh southerlies becoming general about the coast, with scattered rain; variable winds inland, with showers clearing during the day. Westland: Rain easing to scattered showers, and becoming fine; fresh westerlies turning southerly and moderating this morning; cool. Outlook: A south-westerly airstream should cover New Zealand with mainly fine weather, but showers in places exposed to the south-west.
