Umpires lodge appeal
Minutes after Australia had won yesterday’s cricket test the two umpires, Tony Crafter and Mel Johnson, lodged an appeal against the decision of the Australian players to fine Dennis Lillee $2OO. An Australian Cricket
Board spokesman said that the board would make a decision at a hearing tonight. The grounds of the appeal were that the penalty, enforced under the players’ Code of Behaviour, was not compatible with the seriousness of the offence.
