State forest hard hit
Nelson reporter Storms in the Nelson region have caused severe damage in the. Golden Downs State forest, according to the Nelson Conservator of Forests, Mr P. Maplesden. Up to 12 months production of radiata pine : might be lost. The extent of the damage was not yet known, but trees in various parts of the forest had been blown down. Mostly mature trees of about 30 years of age had been affected, he said.
