Party leaders together for TV
PA Wellington The three main political leaders met at Wellington yesterday for the first time on the 1981 election campaign trail, to make a television programme that will go on air this evening. National’s' Mr Muldoon, Labour's /Mr Rowling, and Social Credit’s Mr Beetham were pre-recording the ‘‘Facing the Nation” questions and answers programme which will be shown on Network One for an hour from 8 p.m. The leaders will answer questions sent in by viewers. TVNZ's head of current affairs, Mr Graeme Wilson, said the questions covered “every conceivable range of interest from major issues shown up in the campaign to very local and very small issues.” Mr Rowling had a long journey to make the programme, he was • in Christchurch for a rally on Monday evening and flew to Wellington early yesterday. Then he was to head south again for a rally at Dunedin last evening. Mr Muldoon was already in Wellington, having held a rally there’ on Monday, and Mr Beetham travelled to the capital from a Taihape meet- ■ ing. ‘. The leaders will meet again at the week-end for a television programme — a debate on the. ejection issues. It will be shown on Sunday I on Network One at 8 p.m.
