Not the same Allez Bijou
The appearance of a horse named Allez Bijou in the Westland Racing Club’s acceptances published yesterday was the cause of some guffawing in the trainers’ hut at Riccarton. No one could see how last Saturday’s Sandown Cup winner in Melbourne could possibly get into a maiden field at Hokitika.
They were right on that score for the Allez Bijou, which will be having her first start in the Hokitika Free Form Glass Maiden Stakes on Saturday, is certainly not the Sandown Cup winner. She is the three-year-old daughter of Noble Bijou and the Senator Jack mare, Smart Senator, and is trained at Ikamatua by Ken O’Malley.
