Prince ‘Physician’
NZPA London Prince Charles has become an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians — and* no doubt picked up a few tips on fatherhood from its 300 members with whom he had dinner. The Prince and Princess of Wales are expecting their first child in June and Sir Richard Bayliss, the Queen’s Physician, is also a Fellow of the College. But the Prince was giving nothing away when he undertook to maintain the honour and defend the rights of the college “unimpaired.” The college, the oldest medical institution in England, was founded by the Prince’s ancestor, King Henry VIII, in 1518. For the first time in its 463-year history it can boast three Royal Honorary Fellows. The Queen Mother and the Duke of Edinburgh are the other two. The Queen is its visitor.
