Women figure in disability survey
, Wellington reporter Women easily outnumber men among severely physically disabled New Zealanders, according to a study made by the Auckland Regional Authority.
In this Auckland survey, females outnumbered males 57 to 43 per cent. Men were more numerous only in the ages between 20 and 39. possibly because of accident disabilities. The main disabilities found were cerebral palsy, 22 per cent; paraplegia, 22 per cent; arthritis, 14 per cent; sclerosis, 11 per cent; mobility diseases, 6 per cent; muscular disorders, 5 per cent.
