Trap shooting titles
Excellent conditions at the week-end led to high scores and long shoot-offs for the South Island trap shooting titles at the Yaldhurst range. Shooters numbered 325 and came from Australia and throughout the country. Results were:—

Beardsley (Christchurch) 2, C. Blanchett (Timaru) 3.
Single rise—A grade (137 entries): T. Catling (Australia) 1, G. Searle (Christchurch) 2, A. Elliott (Christchurch) 3. B grade (114 entries): .Z. Crofts (Christchurch) 1, P. Shepards (Wellington) 2. C. Blanchett (Timaru) 3. The teams’ match between Australia and New Zealand was won by New Zealand by 478
points to 475. The provincial teams’ match for the A. T. Black trophy was won bv the Canterbury team of G. Searle, R. F. Everett, T. Everett jun., A. Clelland, M. Cook and V. Petersen. Scores: Canterbury 1096, Auckland 1083, Southland 1064, Otago 1062. Peter Lassen (Christchurch) won the over-all prize (the Air New Zealand trophy) after a shoot-off with Larry Feutz (Rakaia).
