Triple gold for reds
PA Auckland The high quality red wines came into their own in judging yesterday in the National Wine Competition at The Chateau. Three gold medals went to older Cabernet Sauvignon wines. They were: Nobilo 78, Penfolds 78 and Te Mata 80, which, w’on a gold with its first entry of a Cabernet. Sweet white dessert wines also attracted two gold medals which went to Villa Maria Sauteme 78 and Seifried Gewurztraminer Ice Wine 80, a first gold for this Nelson vineyard. New Zealand winegrowers will arrive at The Chateau today in preparation for a week-end seminar when judges will explain their verdicts to the , industry and technical papers will be presented.
