Cambridge teams for Riccarton

Special correspondent . Cambridge

The Cambridge training partners, Laurie Laxon and Peter Attwood, plan to take a team of five or six horses and Nigel Landers plans to take Blarney. Lass and possibly Shifvaughan to the New Zealand Cup meeting at Riccarton.

All going well Noble Heights, Silver Wraith, Innes Lad and Le Coquin from the Laxon-Attwood' team are certain to make the trip and there is a possibility that Roi Filou and the two-year-old

filly, Mussetta, will also go. Noble Heights, whose progress since she last. raced has thoroughly pleased Laxon, has her sights set on the One Thousand Guineas on the last day of the meeting. Silver Wraith is a probable contender for the Lumley Handicap on the first day and the Churchill Stakes on the final day. Innes Lad, which has thrived since his Te Rapa win, is likely to run in the New Zealand Cup on the last day, with a lead-up race in the Benson and Hedges Cup on November 7.

Landers is keen to make the trip with Blarney Lass, whose owners, Messrs David Spicer and Maurice Neiman, live in Christchurch. Blarney Lass ran a game race for third in the Desert Gold Stakes at Trentham and has done well since. Landers is considering the New Zealand Cup for Shifvaughan, whose form at Wellington did not quite reach expectations because of the wet track. Shifvaughan’s form in the Rotorua Cup today will influence his connections.
