Hagley High School

Sir,—l do not need to care that the Government is considering closing Hagley High School in 1985. Why? Because I will have left by then, but many students will be forced to miss out on all I’ve benefited from, during this year at Hagley. The teachers give us encouragement and are only too willing to help a student with a problem, even to giving up their freetime and lunch hour..Hagley has a great childcare centre. My daughter loves being among the other children and students. The adolescent students talk of the success of the child-care course. Hagley caters for everyone, offering new courses. These have shown encouraging results. At Hagley we lead in education history, but we do not want to be the first school to be closed. We have so much to offer to all students, teachers and the community at large. Yours, etc., MRS JEANETTE ROFFEY. October 27, 1981.

' Sir,—As an adult student at present attending Hagley High School, I feel deep concern about the possible closing of the school. This school provides a wide range of classes for a large number of students. It provides excellent facilities and teachers for both adult and adolescent, full or part-time students. It is a valuable asset to the community and as such should be. retained. Undoubtedly, it would take a small fraction of the money to be spent on Girls’ High School to strengthen Hagley’s main block.—Yours, etc., L. K. C. BEARDSLEY. October 27, 1981.
