Airline's salvage bid
World airline executives have decided to launch a big drive to generate new traffic and cut running costs further to combat the effects of the world economic recession. With many big airlines expecting to make losses this year totalling $l.l billion, delegates to the annual general conference of the International Air Transport Association decided to attack the problem partly through innovative marketing and hard selling. Those insisting on opening Europe to free market competition in the manner of the United States were severely criticised by several airlines. — Cannes.
