Education grants up
Parliamentary reporter
Schools and other educational institutions, except universities, will receive increased grants for the 198283 financial year. The Government has approved a 15 per cent increase in grants for general running costs of educational institutions with effect from April 1, 1982. The Minister of Education (Mr Wellington) said yesterday that this would cost an
additional $6.8 million in a full year. “Last year I announced increased grants of $6.1 million, and the year before an increase of $5 million. In addition, over the last two years supplementary grants were paid, mainly to primary and secondary schools, the total of which was $6.33 million,” said Mr Wellington.
