30 quicker Katanas
A factory “hot” version of the new 1100 Katana is one of the 198? model Suzukis due in New Zealand soon. The bike will feature extra power, spoked wheels, heavy duty brakes and a strengthened clutch — items all obviously aimed at production racing. Thirty of the quicker Katanas will be brought to New Zealand, and it is believed that about 200 more will go to Australia.
This model is separate from the GSXIIOOS Katana which has mag wheels and a motor already quicker than last year’s black-pipe 1100 E models. The race version will cost $4OO more than the standard Katana' at about $7BOO. It is expected they will be quickly snapped up by racers. Suzuki dealers were advised of their arrival a month ago, and have been taking orders. The mag wheel model is due in November, and some of those are pre-ordered. Also arriving in November is the GSX7SOS — the new Katana model 750 which is attracting the eye of production racers in its class.
A pilot shipment of six of these bikes came and went; another load is due next month but is all pre-sold.
