Doctor acquitted
The charge of murder of a mongo! baby against a consultant paediatrician. Dr Leonard Arthur, has been dismissed by Mr Justice Farquharson. His Honour ruled that Dr Arthur must face a charge of attempted murder. The decision came on the eleventh day of the trial at Leicester Crown Court of Dr Arthur, aged 55, and followed two days of legal submission by his defence counsel, Mr George Carman, Q.C. The baby. John Pearson, died after being rejected by his parents.—London.
