Pan Am won’t pay
PA '. . . Wellington Pan American World Airways would not try to pay international departure taxes for its passengers in New Zealand, said the airline’s New Zealand director, Mr David Morgan, yesterday. The airline has sought Australian Government approval to allow the airline to pay departure tax for each of its passengers across the Tasman. but Australia has
vetoed the proposal, saying that it would be the equivalent to discounting an approved fare. New Zealand’s international departure tax is $35 for adults and $7 for children. Under its Australian proposal, Pan American would have bought $2O departuretax stamps and would have attached them to passenger’s tickets.
