Clerks get 10 per cent rise

New Zealand’s 30,000 Clerical Workers’ Union members will get a 10 per cent wage rise from December 8 after the settlement of their collective agreement in Wellington last week.

The increase will give a grade three clerk a gross weekly wage of $219.96. Other, changes include an extra week's leave after eight years service instead of 10, a further service step after seven years, a 10 per cent increase in allowances, and an increase in shift allowances from $2 to $3. The new salary bar above which clerical workers are exempt from union membership is $13,872.

Tadics are continuing outside conciliation on the union's claim for reclassification of the grades.
