Female chaplain for college
St Margaret’s College will have a female chaplain next year. She is the Rev. Carole Graham, who is vicar of Ellesmere. In 1975 Miss Graham was a New Zealand delegate to the World Council of Churches general assembly at Nairobi, Kenya. She was secretary of the joint regional committee of the five negotiating churches for three years. Miss Graham is a member of the bishop’s committee for
the selection of candidates for the ministry and a member of the board of governors of Christchurch Girls’ High School. She will resign from the St Margaret’s College Trust Board next year. Miss Graham is a trained teacher and has taught in schools in New Zealand and England, as well as at the Christchurch Teachers’ College. The college chaplaincy has been vacant since the death of the Rev I. J. Botting last year.
