007 competition
A remarkable thing about our James Bond competition so far is that the letters received, without a fail, have managed to list the 12 films in correct order and, also, who played 007. There has been some discrepancy to the other questions asking who the leading actresses were and in the names of the directors of each individual film — some people have gone to the other extreme of helpfulness by listing the songs and tunes from the James Bond movies.
As explained last week, the latest 007 film, “For Your Eyes Only,” starts at the new Regent Twin Cinema Complex on November 19, and we have 20 double-pass tickets for the opening evening (or any night), by courtesy of United Artists and Kerridge Odeon, for people who can answer the following questions in the neatest, most informative way:
1. Put in chronological order as films, and not as lan Fleming's novels were written, the 12 major productions.
2. Say which actor (Sean Connery. George Lazenby or Roger Moore) played the Bond role. 3. Say who the leading actress was in each film. 4. Give the name of the director of each film. Please'send your entries to
Hans Petrovic, C/- At the f Cinema. “The Press," P.O. ! Box 1005,. Christchurch. j For even the keenest filmfollower or James Bond fan. this may prove difficult. Therefore, it may be best to | list them all again in alphabetical order, and hope that you can get their sequence right:
“Diamonds Are Forever,” “Doctor No,” “For Your Eyes Only,” “From Russia With Love,” “Goldfinger,” “Live and Let Die,” “Moonraker,’’ “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service,” “The Man With the Golden Gun,” "The Spy Who Loved Me,” “Thunderball,” and “You Only Live Twice.”
One interesting point which has been raised by a number of people is the noninclusion of "Casino Royale” in this list. This note from one of the contestants should
answer that question: “lan Fleming’s first novel. ‘Casino Royale.’ has also been made into a movie but cannot be included in this list as the rights to the book are not owned by the people who made. all the rest of the movies."
