Spraying of garbage
Sir,—A callous example of “man’s inhumanity to man” is reported by you (October 26). Officials of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, propose to spray household garbage tins with a repugnant chemical to stop vagrants fossicking in them for food and so smirch their image of an area of “glittering commerce and culture.” I wonder in what field of culture they think they shine?—Yours, etc., PHYLLIS NEWELL.
