Abortion clinic
Sir,—The catalogue of changes associated with pregnancy listed by Pauline Johnstone (October 26) are only imaginary at the beginning of a pregnancy. With the possible exception of nausea, the other changes come into the category of “what might happen if. . .” All of them can be prepared for and either relieved or cured if they ever happen. There is a lot of help available to the pregnant woman, and she should not be deciding about an abortion because she is afraid of a future that she is imagining. If, when the baby is born, she finds the thought of child-rearing would ruin her mental health, then adoption is the caring alternative. Pregnancy is a time of mental and emotional growth, that can have an excellent effect on mental health.—Yours, etc., ERICA JORDAN. October 26, 1981,
