57 burglaries at week-end
The Christchurch police dealt with 57 burglaries in the city between Friday night and yesterday morning. A police spokesman said that it had been one of the worst long week-ends for burglaries. Most of the burglaries were of commercial and industrial premises and the main target appeared to be cash. No big amounts were stolen however.
