C.T.C. open day

An open day and a consumer education display will be held at the Christchurch Teachers' college today. The college will be open to the public from 10.30 a.m. to 9 p.m. There will be lectures and displays covering aspects of teacher training but the emphasis of this year’s open day is on consumer education.

"We thought it was appropriate because the open day feil in the middle of Consumer Education Week, and the college is involved with consumer education,” said the registrar of the college, Mr W. H. Ritchie, yesterday. Special displays on the theme had been mounted in the college for the week. School groups were being given tours of the college to see the displays, he said.

The senior education officer of the Consumer Institute, Mr Ray Heenan, will give a lecture on consumer education in schools, at 11 a.m. There will also be an open session on the subject, at 7.30 p.m. Musical and dramatic presentations will be made during the open day.
