Safe driving

Four commercial drivers who have driven a total of 3.5 million kilometres without an accident received safe driving awards yesterday.

The Associate Minister of Transport (Mr Malcolm) made the awards to four Shell Oil, Ltd, drivers for 25 years of accident-free driving. They are Mr lan Skevington, of Christchurch, Mr Sam Skudder, of Timaru, Mr Brian Reynolds, of Auckland, and Mr Bill Waters, of Invercargill. The Safe Driving Award Scheme is run by the Ministry of Transport and the Accident Compensation Corporation. It has been going for 26 years. Including yesterday’s recipients, there are only seven drivers who have been awarded certificates.
